<3 I'll be at SakuraCon this weekend! Yay!, Phil will be there at least one day, I don't know which yet...--Kaja <3
To borrow a phrase from TV Tropes, Moloch seems to have Taken a Level in Badass. And, IIRC, Snaug's pretty much got her eye on him (and her claws in him) so if Sanaa suddenly changes her mind about him, there will be fireworks.
I love fireworks. I'll be looking for it.
I hadn't really heard a voice for Von Zinzer before this but at this point a mid-30s Jack Nicholson rings in my ears here.
I don't think Sanaa will start chasing after him. After all, even if he has leveled, her goal is to find Othar and start adventuring. Sticking around Moloch isn't part of that goal. She may admit she misjudged him, but I don't think that she's going to reciprocate his affections. That said, if it came down to Snaug vs Sanaa in a fight, my money's on Sanaa.
Then again...Sanaa did apparently have the delusion that Moloch had the hots for her...I do love the reaction she was getting, though--about the same as you'd get from showing up at the Jedi Temple and commenting about 'That wimpy little green guy with the big ears'. ;-)
No delusion, he clearly did! Remember the page where she brings Agatha to the kitchen? He makes an utter fool of himself in front of Sanaa, she has reason to think he's an idiot. And he confesses to Snaug that he likes Sanaa later, I think when they're going up that hilarious set of reminder steps from Lucrezia's lab.Sanaa isn't wrong from the information she has, she just hasn't seen our fellow here grow into his role the way we have; and Mezzasalma has.
*nods* She was elsewhere when he took the level in BAMF (Bad-Ass Machine Fixer), so she's surprised he's competent. Keep in mind that kitchen duty wasn't anything he was remotely suited for, either - he's a mechanic, not a chef! (though according to the book, he's good at making moonshine...if he and Theo ever get together with a still.....*liver cries out in rapture*)
Look at Fräulein Snaug in the center panel. She's strutting. If Sanaa does try to approach von Zinzer in the next few pages, I think Snaug will intervene and assert a claim.I wonder whether anything happened between them, down in the depths of the Castle ...
You know, there might have been. He was so convinced of his undesirability that he didn't see a whole bucketload of hints from Snaug. I rather hope she dragged him off into some corner after getting the waterwheel fixed and kissed him into oblivion. That would certainly have helped his self-confidence no end. Given some of the other hints about her personality, I really don't want it to have gone further than that; he deserves a sweet girl who will return his obviously nurturing nature.
I like this idea of Snaug dragging him off and kissing him senseless....I like it very, very much. *squee* But yeah, doubt they would've gone much further...stuff to do and all that. Later on? We'll see.
She is so strutting. While I don't think Sanaa will make a claim, Snaug is subtly suggesting 'MINE' with her body language, with a dash of 'see how awesome my man is?' I wonder if Moloch's kerchief is covering up a red mark or two from Snaug claiming him as hers.....*grins* always fun, that.
If that's subtle I'd hate to see her 'overt'. At this point the only person who might not know that Moloch belongs to Snaug is Moloch! But that's perfectly normal in interhuman relations . . .
Yeah, pretty much (admittedly, my experience with human relations is.....unusual) And I'm wondering when Moloch will realize that...and what lengths Snaug will go to before that. If Sanaa does make a claim (though I doubt she will), then I think Snaug react vehemently.
Actually, I think it's less Taking a Level as more a case of Taking On His Aspect. Remember that before the GG series started, this is what he *did*--and from all evidence was very competant at, given how long he kept his and his brother's unit working away from support. Up until now, he's been trying to cope with being on badly shaky ground and not knowing what's going on when Sparkiness was happening..but now he's firmly on solid ground in *his* element, Knowing both What's Going On and What To Do About It, and it shows. Which may be part of why the Sparks are giving him respect--scientists respect an Expert in his Field. :-)
