<3 We're cleaning out our junk room, it's going to be the new studio...this should be interesting.--Kaja <3
"It makes perfect sense. If I were evil and in control of Klaus, I would order him to not be aware that I was controlling him. Wouldn't you? Lucrezia knew that Klaus was very, very smart. If Klaus knew he was being controlled, he'd try to find a way around it."Except neither Phil nor Kaja said that Lunekva ordered Klaus not to be aware she was controling him (I'm not sure how that would even work). It could be that Lu is being very, very subtle with her commands and is avoiding gloating so not to reveal herself to Klaus. However, that still leaves a continuity error. Mr. R (whatever his name is), recognized Agatha as "The Other" by just hearing her command him - hearing the command voice (see page 7, volume 6). No gloating involved. Snaug obeyed Lugatha without much thought or recognition, as did the people in Strumhalten. The whole thing is rather inconsistent as it seems whether or not someone realizes they are being controled is dependant on the needs of the plot and not on any internal logic. In other words, if the Foglios want someone to be aware of being wasped and under control of the command voice, they are. If not, then they don't know.
Just because you haven't been explicitly told that something happened doesn't necessarily mean that it didn't happen. "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence."In all of the cases you cited, the Command Voice was being used. Check the typeface. Rovainen might have recognized both that he was being commanded and that the Other was issuing the command if he had known Original Lucrezia before the Time of Troubles -- apparently Agatha's voice sounds just like Lucrezia's. But is that necessary for the Command Voice? Do we know that Lunevka's voice sounds like Lucrezia's, other than the presence of the command harmonics? In other words, Agatha's voice sounds like Lucrezia's voice, so much so that it contains the command harmonics. But Lunevka's voice might sound like Princess Anevka's voice, with the addition of the cammand harmonics. Klaus might not recognize Lunevka as the Other by the sound of her voice if this were the case.Edited at 2012-02-20 11:24 am (UTC)
I'd like a transcript of the Q&A, actually.
I'd love one. Summaries of interviews -- and even the Blueprints, or the comic itself -- sometimes give a very different impression from what I get out of the exact words when I finally see them.
There is no reason to believe that when non-sparks obey a very strong Spark, they are being wasp-infection controlled. Mechanixburgers enthusiastically obeyed the Heterodynes for generations before The Other ever appeared on the scene. This is getting lost in the excitement. Minions obey Sparks because of the force of personality. That is a basic rule of Europa. Wasp infection is a different situation. Agatha controlled Moloch because he's a natural minion and she is one of the strongest Sparks on the continent at present. Perhaps Rovainen recognized Lu's voice in Agatha but he already was a revenant so that's hardly evidence of a general rule. Excuse me, but I think that this discussion has turned on an Obsession with non-shambling revenants. I seriously doubt that they are that important to the plot.
